| Palazzo Senatorio and the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius in Piazza del Campidoglio. Palazzo Senatorio was built during the 13th and 14th century. The stairs were designed by Michelangelo and the fountain in front of the them features the river gods of the Tiber and the Nile as well as Minerva.
In the middle of the piazza stands the statue of Marcus Aurelius, the only equestrian bronze to have survived since Antiquity. |
